Perfect Amino vs Thorne Amino Complex (and a third option)

Facts checked on October 31, 2026. Prices and formulas change; check each brand's own site before you buy.

Perfect Amino by BodyHealth and Thorne Amino Complex are two of the most trusted essential amino acid (EAA) supplements, and they are built quite differently. Perfect Amino is a tablet or powder with an undisclosed blend; Thorne is a powder that lists the amount of every amino acid and is NSF Certified for Sport. We make a third option, Rejuvenate Muscle Health, a single-serve stick, and we have included it in the table for anyone who wants neither tablets nor a scoop. Every fact links to the brand's own page.

The short answer

Choose Thorne Amino Complex if you want to see the amount of each amino acid and need NSF Certified for Sport on every tub. Choose Perfect Amino if you want a tablet with no sweetener, more powder flavors, or a lower price per serving on subscription. Transparency: undisclosed blend or listed amounts

This is the clearest difference. Thorne lists every amino acid and its amount per scoop, led by 1.25 g of leucine. Perfect Amino describes its formula as a proprietary blend and does not list individual amounts. If you want to know exactly what you are taking, Thorne is the easier product to check.

Certification

Thorne Amino Complex is NSF Certified for Sport. Perfect Amino sells separate NSF Certified for Sport versions alongside its standard tablets and powder. If you compete in a tested sport, buy a certified version of either.

Format and taste

Perfect Amino offers tablets (five per serving) or a powder in seven flavors; BodyHealth suggests two to four servings a day. Thorne is a powder in Lemon or Berry, one scoop a serving, with travel packs for on the go. Thorne is sweetened with stevia (rebaudioside A) and includes turmeric powder; Perfect Amino tablets have no sweetener and the powder uses stevia, monk fruit and katemfe.

Price

Thorne is $52 for 30 servings, $1.73 a serving, or $1.56 on subscription. Perfect Amino is $1.28 to $1.53 a serving bought once and from $1.09 on subscription. Perfect Amino is cheaper per serving, but BodyHealth suggests more servings a day, so compare the daily cost for the way you will actually take it.

A third option: Rejuvenate Muscle Health

If you would rather not count tablets or measure scoops, Rejuvenate Muscle Health is one stick poured into water, two a day, 5 calories each, with 1,000 IU of vitamin D3. It activates muscle comparable to 20g of protein per serving†‡ and contains no protein. Its blend has eight essential amino acids plus arginine, without tryptophan, and it is sweetened with sucralose and stevia, so it is not the pick if you want tryptophan or avoid sucralose. Compare Rejuvenate with Perfect Amino.
